“Ni uno más | Not One More Death”

April 29th, 2019 | New York, NY

In the last 10 years, nearly 500 construction workers have died on their job sites in New York State alone. Hundreds of New York City immigrant construction workers took to the streets on April 29th, Workers’ Memorial Day (Día de Trabajador Caído), to commemorate their fallen co-workers and draw attention to unsafe working conditions for immigrant laborers. We are posting this video on Labor Day because the story remains more relevant than ever as we continue to lose workers unjustly in this industry. From May to August 2019, 4 more workers have died on construction sites in New York City.

A newsreel by Meerkat Media Collective, in collaboration with the Illuminator Collective and NICE. With support from the Brooklyn Arts Council
