This participatory film tells the story of Astrid, a woman from Colombia who documents her shifts cleaning the NYC subway without protective equipment during the pandemic. The unknowns about the virus and her fear of getting sick forced Astrid to leave the job regardless of her financial needs. Since then, she has shared her experience to highlight the abuses her community goes through to survive. I met Astrid at NICE, a grassroots organization that supports immigrant workers NYC, and where she is an active member and I worked for almost three years. Currently, she works in the construction and cleaning industries and is learning the trade of carpentry.

Esta película participativa cuenta la historia de Astrid, una mujer de Colombia que documenta sus turnos limpiando el metro de Nueva York sin equipo de protección durante la pandemia. Las incógnitas sobre el virus y su miedo a enfermarse la obligaron a dejar el trabajo aún con las necesidades económicas que enfrentaba. Desde entonces, ha compartido su historia para denunciar los abusos que sufre su comunidad para poder sobrevivir. Conocí a Astrid en NICE, una organización de base en donde ella participa activamente, y en la cual trabajé por casi tres años. Actualmente, Astrid trabaja en las industrias de construcción y limpieza y está aprendiendo el oficio de carpintería.
